Sony just announced that they will be filming the 2010 FIFA World Cup in 3D. Following the success of "Full HD" driving the demand for new plasma, LCD and LED TVs, will 3D TV be the next feature that drives the demand for new TVs? I can understand the benefit in the cinema environment - just look at the success of "Avatar". But, how about in the lounge room?
LG is planning to sell 400,000 3D TVs in 2010 and 3.4 million in 2011!
I suspect that unless the TV is at least of the 60 inch variety you will not get a good depth effect. And who wants to watch TV in their lounge room with glasses on? I wonder if you can switch between 2D and 3D easily so you don't have the fuzziness without the glasses?
