It is an exciting day with the announcement of the find in South Africa of two 130cm skeletons belonging to human ancestors - an adult female and a young male. The species has been named Australopithecus sediba. Wikipedia has the latest information here. It has a brain about one-third the size of the modern human brain. It is known as a "transitional species" because it falls in between the early apes and the modern human descendants. Here is a nice video describing the find from the BBC.
