Clash of the Titans - Good Action, Poor Script

My knowledge of Greek mythology tells me that the "Titans" were a race of powerful deities, descendants of Gaia and Uranus, that ruled during the legendary Golden Age.  Their role as Elder Gods was overthrown by a race of younger gods, the Olympians - 12 gods headed by Zeus - who resided atop mount Olympus.  The problem with this movie called "Clash of the Titans" is that the Titans are nowhere to be seen!  Maybe "Clash of the Gods" didn't sound as good to Hollywood. It is after all a remake of the 1981 classic by the same name.

So, what did I think of the 2010 version?...

I loved the special effects - although the 3D is not as rich as it could be and I would rather just see the 2D version. The story is woeful - not only because it does not align well with the original legend but because it has huge gaps. For example, Perseus (Sam Worthington) goes from fisherman to warrior in 3 easy lessons which last a few minutes each.  We don't get to know much about any character in any depth and so we cannot relate to the drama which unfolds or any of the characters. As a result, many of the lines sound corny - as if they were written by a 6-year old - which makes you cringe. The Kraken is too easily dealt with for a creature which is feared even by the gods.

The trailer below is great and sets you up to expect a movie which should have a much deeper story and should be more enjoyable.  I recommend seeing this in 2D on the big screen just for the special effects.  Expect to eat lots of popcorn in amazement.  I rated this movie a 6 out of 10 because of the lame script.
